If you've been looking at electric bikes online, it's likely you've already seen vehicles which are actually electric motorbikes which are being mis-sold as e-bikes, and in many cases not legal in the UK.
These 'fake e-bikes' often do not meet the mechanical, electrical or safety guidelines set out in law. Often their motors are too powerful, operate on throttle only, their weight is over the limit, their batteries are made poorly, or have other issues which put them outside of the legal definition of e-bike. Riding one in public can lead to legal action, such as driver's licence being seized.
Every bike for sale at Energise E-bikes is an electric bike as defined in British law, and is legal on the roads - or anywhere else a conventional bicycle is allowed - across the UK and the EU.
Our e-bikes come with UKCA and CE safety certification, which means they meet the safety standards set in the UK and EU, respectively.
In short, beware 'fake e-bikes' and be confident that every bike on this website is legal and safe.
