Award Winner
The Grenoble C5+ First Edition won an iF Design Award in 2026 in which the judges praised its frame design. Gazelle are masters at creating bike frames which feel extremely comfortable to sit on, but what they've developed with the First Edition is to lower the stepthrough part of the frame. The result is a bike that's reassuringly easy to get on and off, whilst also feeling more stable than other bikes as you're riding along.
We test-rode this bike over a pot-holed road, and we can attest to how smooth-riding it is. It is comfortable enough to ride over bumps without having to stand up off the saddle. We have the suspension forks and suspension seatpost to thank for that.
Sit Up and Breathe
The First Edition is tall at the front - taller than it's more sporty siblings the Ultimate, and the Medeo - which means that you can sit upright. This has several benefits:
- Less strain on your back and shoulders
- Better view (of scenery or of other vehicles)
- Easier, more relaxed breathing

Large Battery option: You can upgrade to a 600Wh battery if you like to get you extra mileage per charge.
Strong rear rack: The rack uses the MIK HD system which works with all manner of luggage and child seats, to take up to 25kg.
Great Climber: The bike features the Bosch Performance motor (75Nm) which gives smooth, easy hill climbing.
Hub Gears: Really good choice for this bike. Easy to change gear and low maintenance.
Clear Screen: A clear, central screen is very useful. You can even set it up to give you directions.
