About the Tern GSD S10 LR

The Great Multitasking E-bike

Delivery van, school bus, gym, taxi - this bike wears all those hats. The genius of the GSD range is that it is a heavy-duty bike with a high load carrying capacity that retains the footprint of a regular bike. With the foldable handlebars, it is easy to store and will even fit into the back of an estate car.

Gutsy, Stable and Durable

We're not actually sure what GSD stands for, but gutsy, stable and durable are good words to describe the GSD S10 LX. The 'gutsy' Bosch Cargo Line motor delivers 85nm torque right when you need it - especially welcome if you take full advantage of its 200kg max gross vehicle weight capacity. The bike's weight is carried low in the frame on top of relatively wide tyres, so it always feels very stable. The supporting components are super tough too: the Atlas lockstand, rear rack, Shimano gears and Magura brakes are all designed for durability.

Optional Add ons

The Tern GSD bikes have the capacity to add on several bits and pieces that you might find useful. For example, the Thule Yepp child seats can be fitted in a pair on the rear rack with no adaptor plates required. For slightly bigger children, the Clubhouse seat is available which will also fit two children (see pics below). You can even add a second battery to create an extra large 'fuel tank' to go for double the distance at a time.

Summary: An electric cargo bike at this quality for under £5000 is a great investment, especially when you consider how cheap it is to run an electric bike over a car.

About the Tern brand

Tern is a very modern brand which was born as an off-shoot of the Dahon bicycle brand which you may be familiar with. Tern has taken its inspiration from the Arctic Tern - a small bird which is capable of travelling extremely large distances. Its bikes have the same capability. They're compact bikes - and though they wouldn't be described as 'lightweight' - they do store away easily, pack into cars well and have enough power to go as far as any full size electric bike.

We like the way they are set up to be utility vehicles, capable of carrying large amounts of cargo or children on the back., The wheels are nice and wide for comfort and traction and yes, believe the hype, we have had customers who have bought Tern bikes and then have been able to sell their cars!
